What is mindfulness?
When it comes to dealing with feelings of fear and anxiety, Jennifer Waldburger, author of Calm Baby, Happy Mama, says practicing mindfulness — focusing on the present moment without judgement — can do a world of good. In terms of mindful parenting, Waldburger suggests:
- Take a minute to step back and breathe when your baby is crying. This will help you remove your emotional narrative from the situation.
Respond instead of reacting. Taking time to breathe will allow you to think more clearly, letting you to respond to the situation rather than react out of fear or anxiety.
