Our Baby Box is the most wallet-friendly, safe infant bed available. What's needed for safe sleep? Doctors advise that babies sleep on the back, on a firm mattress, in their own sleep space—but in the same room as the parents—during the first six months of life. Like a bassinet, a Baby Box provides all that and has a smaller footprint than a crib that makes it perfect for placing right next to an adult bed at night. But, it’s much more portable than a bassinet and costs a fraction of the price! That's why parents love their Baby Box, whether it's their baby's only bed or an inexpensive secondary sleep space used for naps and travel.

The Baby Box is a Finnish tradition dating back to 1938. In the 1930s, Finland was a poor country and infant mortality was high. Enter: the Baby Box program—a state-led initiative to make safe sleep accessible to all families. And, it worked! The Finnish government offers every expecting woman in the country a Baby Box—but only after she receives prenatal care and parenting information from a healthcare professional. This simple but genius idea is credited with helping to decrease Finland’s infant mortality rate from 65 deaths for each 1,000 children born in 1938 to 3 deaths per 1,000 births in 2013. Today, Finland has one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world.

Our founders Michelle Vick and Jennifer Clary heard about the Finnish Baby Box and so began their mission to spread safe sleep practices and the use of Baby Boxes in America.  Each box contains a safe sleep pamphlet and a more extensive expert-led video class is available for FREE on After completing the class, parents can get the most basic Baby Box model (no lid, less gear inside) for 80% less—another effort to make sure no family is priced out of making a safe choice for their baby.

In 2017, Temple University wanted to understand if baby boxes could move the needle on safe sleep in the U.S. In a study of over 5000 women, half were given safe sleep boxes made by The Baby Box Co. and face-to-face education on safe sleep. They found this program reduced bed sharing, a known SIDS risk factor, by 25% in the first eight days of life; among exclusively breastfed babies, who bed share at a higher rate, a 50% reduction occurred.

We hope this information empowers your family to learn safe sleep practices,  commit to them every night and tell other friends who may not know. It takes a village to keep babies safe!
